Ansel Adams, the American Photographer, is best known for his photographs of nature and particuarly famous national parks in North America. He was also an established lecturer and writer.
Ansel Adams grew up in San Francisco, California and this natural beauty helped to develop his photographic eye. He chose to do this in his own company, where he could enjoy his passion and avoid uncomfortable relationships, which appealed to a shy young Ansel.
Yosemite Sierra was Ansel’s favorite area for photography and he regularly travelled around the area throughout his career, with the various cameras that he collected over his career.
1930 marked a key moment in Ansel Adams’ photography career as he met fellow photographer Paul Strand who helped Adams to change direction in his style to straight photography. This was to be crucial in the overall history of photography with Adams now ready to leave his mark.
Ansel Adams loved travelling to various parts of North America in order to photograph his favorite destinations. This connection between his photographs and the landscapes was understood by his audience.
Black and White Photography offers a frozen in time snapshot of a landscape, and it was Ansel Adams that first showed this style. He remains key to the whole industry of black and white photography prints, and his own photographs are in thousands of homes around North America and the rest of the world.
Yosemite Valley played host to one of Ansel Adams’ best black and white photographs, namely Half Dome, Merced River, Winter. The wonderful American landscape was shown in this photograph with snow, trees and mountains.
The world of art and photography is scattered with masters but no-one is more loved and respected for Black and White Photography than Ansel Adams. He left a lasting mark on the art of Photography.
